Abstract of Individual Indian Moneys and Special Deposits, December 1927–June 1942

This series consists of abstracts for individual Indian moneys which contains name, year of birth (omitted in some lists), sex, receipt of money (with source of funds) or payment (with check number), and opening and closing balances. Summary entries include totals of opening and closing balances, receipts, and payments. Other types of lists are Outstanding Liabilities and Special Deposits, both with individual names and summary totals. Information recorded following lists of tribal members may include payments for various items such as construction and repair of houses, water development, land clearance, sales of wood, and leases or rentals. Sub-reports for the Mount Pleasant School Subagency (later called the Lansing and then the Michigan Subagency) are also included from June 1934 through February 1942. The Tomah school was primarily responsible for the Winnebago Indians of Wisconsin. Between 1932 and 1935, the Tomah School (Agency) added the Oneida, Stockbridge, and Munsee Indians for the Keshena Agency and the Ottawa, Pottawatomie, and the Saginaw, Swan Creek, and Black River Chippewa (Ojibwa) from the Mount Pleasant School.

Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, was established by an act of the United States Congress in 1891.
